DIY | Crafty Wedding Ideas

A couple of weeks ago, I helped Lauren & Brent with their wedding. We added several fun 'crafty' elements to the event... it was a lot of fun!

Above : I created a flower graphic to add to the stationery that mimicked one of Lauren's favorite fabric patterns. We repeated it on the programs and welcome notes.

These were the arrangements for the rehearsal dinner - fun, garden-y, and whimsical.

Each of her Mom's friends made a brightly colored cake to contribute... it was a big hit - 9 different flavors!

I made this mini wedding cake as the centerpiece of their cakes and for them to cut.

These hotel bags contained some of the bride and groom's favorite goodies.

DIY | Chalkboard Menu

By using a framed painting that somehow ended up at my house I created this DIY Chalkboard Menu for FREE!

1 cup of dark grey paint

1 tablespoon of sanded grout

1 old frame with fitting board (wood, posterboard, hardboard)

Mix together the paint and grout. Paint on the board and let it dry.

I also gave the frame a white coat of paint for a dramatic contrast.

DIY | How to make a floral centerpiece

For this weekend's wedding rehearsal dinner, I put together 10 centerpieces. The bride gave me comeplete control - which I love, of course.





I selected a variety of greens, white hydrangeas, white peonies, white feathery spikey flowers, tuberose, pink peonies, pink/coral garden roses and yellow billy balls.



In floral foam I place sprigs of greens to create the shape.




Next, I insert the largest flowers to give volume.




Then, begin placing flowers evenly based on shape and color throught the arrangement.




Continue adding flowers until a full bouquet is created. Be sure to add a bit of whimsy - some drooping flowers dipping below the container, and above..

Our Wedding | Events by Nouveau

I've actually done it... I've finally selected a florist! Events by Nouveau is it! For our wedding, they will be doing "tablescapes" similar to these photos... various size vases with flowers, and various candles. They'll be using mostly ivory and white flowers - garden roses, orchids, gardenias, peonies, tube rose & navy privet berries. Can't wait!
