Florists | PlanetReuse.com | Studio Dan Meiners

As most of you have heard by now, STUDIO Dan Meiners is in the process of creating (thru renovating!) a new space (near Union Station)... I came across this post on Planet Reuse.com that features the project :

"

Studio Dan Meiners

Kansas City, Missouri

An acclaimed floral and event designer, Studio Dan Meiners spends every day working with natural, green materials. So when they considered ideas for the renovation of a 20,000-square-foot industrial space into a new studio, it was a foregone conclusion that the approach would reflect sustainable design and building practices. PlanetReuse began working with the architect early in the design phase to suggest options for materials reuse.

The airy, open design incorporates salvaged materials to create a transparent separation between the studio’s retail and production areas, connecting the creative process and the finished process. Perforating the roof with skylights offers natural lighting."

Stationery | DIY Invitations

I know this site is all about weddings... but I couldn't resist sharing these invitations I made for a baby shower. The shower is in January, and she isn't finding out if the baby is a boy or a girl - so, this neutral "winter wonderland" theme worked great.

I started with a design that I created on my computer, then printed it on textured cream paper.

I cut it to size, then pasted it to a piece of grey cardstock that would fit nicely into an envelope.

Then, I used a glue pen to fill the bird with glue, then, using a fine grain silver glitter, I glittered the bird.

Finally, I wrapped each invitation, in a creamy flocked velvet paper and tied a piece of "angel fleece" yarn around it. I used a textured cream envelope to complete the invitation.

Style Me Pretty | Winter Engagements

I just love this post from Style Me Pretty - maybe it is because I LOVE hunting for christmas trees, or maybe it is the whimsical balloons - who knows?! But, isn't it great?

Does anyone have any great locations/unique ideas for engagement photo sessions in Kansas City?

Wirken | The Simpson House | Pech Limos

This Real Kansas City Wedding took place at The Simpson House (near the Nelson and The Plaza... One of my favorite venues). Tyler Wirken (as always) captured what seems to have been a beautifully romantic day.

Sugar Cookies | Holiday Recipies

This morning, I'm decorating sugar cookies for events this weekend... Candy canes and stockings.

I start by doing the white icing, then I fill in with the red. I use royal icing- it is very shiny and glossy.

4 egg whites
4 cups of powdered sugar

Beat the egg whites until frothy. Add in the powdered sugar until smooth.
