Stationery | Embossing | Something You Design

Guest Blog from Ashley Jenks of "Something You Design" custom stationery.

"Interested in adding subtle touch of class to your wedding stationery?  An embosser might be just the thing you need.  Not sure what an embosser is?  Many hand embossers resemble the one below.  (There are some really expensive, er... snazzy ones that are self powered, but what is the fun in that?)

You place a piece of paper between the two discs, squeeze with all of your might, and end up with results similar to this:

The above photo is my own wedding program.  My lovely husband embossed all 325 of our programs.  We opted to go with a simply beautiful 'J', but a custom monogram can be designed for the embosser.
With a custom designed embosser, the possibilities are endless."

DIY | Will you be my Bridesmaid Cards | from OnceWed

This DIY post is from OnceWed... read the original article here

"I love the idea of formally asking those  whom you would like to be in your bridal party. I sent out a cards for my own wedding so that inspired me to come up with a cute project to do the same. I adore the paper chain people that we all learned to make in grade school and this project uses that simple concept to introduce your bridesmaids to everyone. Cut out the shape of the dress you plan on using in the color you desire and personalize each person with some paper hair. To complete the set I created a little card asking “Will you be my bridesmaid?” and included the wedding details as well as how and where to order the dresses. To find instructions and more details about this diy wedding project, click “more” below…

Enjoy!"

Newsletter | Bright Cheery Colors

real kansas city weddings with bright style...

Vibrant colors of summer have inspired me... I’ve posted two new real weddings this week - both filled with bright, cheery colors (and people!).  Straying from my favorites - whites, ivories, grays and blues - I’ve created this fun design board (to the left) that features pops of peony pinks, poppy reds and a fantastic teal.  Hopefully these beautiful brights will inspired your wedding color palette!

KC Real Wedding | Cheery Happy People | Wirken Photography | Ornamental Petal

When I look at these photos I think bright, fun, cheery and happy - what a great wedding.  These photos (captured by Becca Spears of Wirken Photography... notice a trend?!) are just plain fun... but not at all plain!  I love the bright pinks - who would've thought that vibrant zinnias and orchids would look so great together?  Bridget at Ornamental Petal must know what she's doing!

KC Real Wedding | Rustic + Refined | The Lodge at Iron Woods | Wirken Photography

This Kansas City Wedding was held at The Lodge at Iron Woods in Leawood, KS.   The moments, captured by Becca Spears of Wirken Photography, reveal the intimate nature of the event.  Rustic and refined, I love that this wedding seems that it was so laid back and fun to attend.

Design Board | Sophisticated Bright Colors

I, by nature, am attracted to neutral, soft, classic colors - my favorites being creams, greys, blues, etc.  So, I've stepped out of my color comfort zone to create this bright yet sophisticated color palette featuring aquas, peony pink, poppy red and pale seafoams.  As I've said before, I love color palettes that have many, many colors that coordinate and compliment each other. While monogamy is good in marriage, try to stay away from just one color for your wedding - it might end up too monotonous!
