Finding a photographer to capture the big and small moments of your wedding day can be no tiny task. Luckily, photography is one of the fastest growing fields in the wedding industry... There are literally hundreds to choose from in every city. How do you know the photographer you choose is reputable, responsible, and talented? Here are some steps to help you select the perfect photographer.
st : Set a budget. Photographer rates can vary from $500 to more than $20,000! You have to know what you want to spend. The good news is that there is great talent at every level.
nd : Pick a style. Do you like photo-journalistic style or traditional? Posed and formal or candid and emotional? Do you want an extensive album or a few tasteful framed photos? Not sure? Photographers often have amazing blogs... do some research!
rd : Set up some consultations. I would recommend that you speak with 2-3 photographers in your budget range. You may know you like their work (from doing online research), but remember, your photographer will be with you every single second on Your Big Day - make sure you like his or her personality, too!
th : Book it! After choosing your photographer it is time to put down a deposit and schedule an engagement session. I recommend doing an engagement session with your wedding photographer as it is a great time to start to feel comfortable around one another.
th : The Big Day. Be sure to meet with your photographer a couple of weeks prior to your wedding to finalize the day's schedule. At this time you can speak with the photographer about when you whether or not you would like to see each other before the ceremony, if you want any posed photos, and if so, who you would like to be in them. Again, it is a good idea to have a hard copy of the directions and schedule to give them.
